There are not too many of us who don’t look forward to Labrador’s first long weekend in spring. But before you venture out to your cabin or get ready to camp, keep these safety tips in mind.

• Notify someone of your plans and when you expect to return.
• Check flashlights, first aid kits, and all other equipment to make sure everything is ready for use.
• Bring plenty of water and fluids to guard against dehydration.
• Use caution around ice and snow covered surfaces.
• Ensure food is stored at correct temperatures to guard against illness.
