Be “food safe” when cooking your turkey this weekend!
Here are some tips for cooking your holiday turkey:
- Thaw your turkey safely in the refrigerator.
- Safely handle your turkey. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after handling the poultry. Keep surfaces and utensils cleaned to avoid the spread of bacteria.
- If stuffing your turkey, be sure to do it just prior to cooking. Ensure stuffing is cooked thoroughly by using a food thermometer.
- Set the oven temperature to at least 350 degrees. Cooking times will vary depending on weight.
