Evacuation Stages & Notifications

Evacuation Alert: Be Ready. THIS IS NOT AN ORDER TO LEAVE.

If an Evacuation Alert is issued, this means that you should begin preparing for the possibility to evacuate on short notice. Take this time to gather and pack important items like documents, medications, keepsakes, clothing and toiletries, etc. You should prepare your home and keep vehicle(s) fueled. This is also a good time to check on family, friends, neighbours and those who may have mobility or other challenges preventing them to being on Alert. Here are some detailed tips and suggestions to help you be organized and ready at a moment’s notice. If you require travel assistance in the event of an Evacuation Order, a Transportation Form will be here for you to submit as soon as an Evacuation Alert is activated.

Evacuation Order: Must leave immediately

If an Evacuation Order is issued, you must leave immediately. Residents will be notified, through the Mobile Alert, Community Email, and on churchillfalls.ca with instructions. Please ensure you have signed up for our local Community Alert and Notification services.

Evacuation Lifted (Alert or Order)

This is when the authorities have deemed the area safe to either return after an Evacuation Order or an Evacuation Alert has been lifted and there is no longer the potential for an evacuation.

TACTICAL EVACUATION: Immediate EVACUATION ORDER issued—no time to prepare.

Some situations may require Tactical Evacuation. This type of evacuation means there is an urgency in a situation with no opportunity to issue an Evacuation Alert. This is a situation where circumstances have either rapidly changed without forewarning or an unknown situation arose that places a risk to people and/or property. If you need transportation or assistance during this type of emergency, this page will be updated with instructions and will be accessible from our Front Page.
